Workflow shortcuts below 👇 Hey, we’re Jeff Workflow shortcuts below 👇

Hey, we’re Jeff and Cat, a husband and wife photography team.

When you’ve got a set of photos with different exposures it can be time consuming to make the lighting look consistent. Instead, set the exposure on one file, select the rest and hit, Command Option Shift M (PC version in the caption) and Lightroom will intelligently alter each image to match the active file

We’ve all been caught pulling in the sides to change the orientation of an image, but hit the letter X while in crop mode and lightroom will automatically flip the orientation and keep the original aspect ratio, a total time saver.

We often like to deliver images in both colour and black and white. Command Apostrophe will create a virtual copy with all our original edits and a quick paste of our black and white preset and we’re done!

If you enjoy this style of micro learning, and you’d like to know more about wedding photography and editing, give us a follow and we’ll see you on the next one.

Hopeful you found this tip helpful. If you’d like to learn more about wedding photography, editing and the business behind it all, make sure to give us a follow.

3 Ai tools we can’t live without Not surprising 3 Ai tools we can’t live without

Not surprisingly we use a lot of Ai tools in our workflow and I thought I’d highlight 3 I use the most often.

Denoise: sometimes you just have to shoot high iso and deal with it later and I have to admit I’m very impressed with what Lightroom’s denoise can do. I don’t recommend going too high as it can make skin texture go funky and unnatural. I also recommend batch syncing when you have multiple images that could use a little denoise. Don’t bother doing one at a time as it takes 15-30 seconds an image.

Generative Fill or GenAi: clearly the best thing to happen to Lightroom since Ai subject masking. It’s so useful not having to leave the app and go to photoshop. Is it perfect? No, but it’s so damn good 90% of the time I can’t really fault it.

ImagenAi: I started using it about half a year ago and honestly I don’t think I’ll go back to manually syncing and batching my images initially. My workflow sees me applying my preset and fixing the white balance and exposure to each scene throughout the wedding before I start fine tuning each image. The initially process usually takes me an hour or so, but more importantly it’s a mindless task that kind of makes editing a drag for me. I don’t use Imagen to just magic wand my Wedding and hope for the best. I’m super specific with how and what I let it make choices on and I’ve trained it over the past few months. For me, I really enjoy the fact that I can run it and in a few minutes I can start doing the fun and creative part. It really has changed my workflow for the better

The four settings we reset before every wedding da The four settings we reset before every wedding day

1. The first step is to reset our White balance to 5200 - that’s the typical setting we need in the morning, and it’s usually set to something like 3600 from the night before if we were shooting without flash and were matching the ambient light.

2. Next we sync all our camera clocks, so images appear in perfect chronological order.

3. Resetting the file count keeps all our images in order by file name and is an extra check at the end of the night. We know we’ve loaded 100% of images, by checking the total image count and the file name of the last image taken.

4. Finally, a quick check that we are recording to multiple cards and playing back to the SD. Since we load from our SDs we want to ensure any ratings made in camera transfer to the catalogs. If you read from CF or CF Express, simply select those ones to read from.

A quick tip, never forget a step by configuring your camera’s custom menu to display all the settings you use to reset your camera.
